I saw End of Evangelion last year, when it debuted in American theaters for the first time ever. I made a friend there, talking about it for a while afterwards standing among the empty seats. They should make this a regular thing (Gkids). Would also love to see Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider in a theater. I saw Shin Godzilla at the theater when that first came out, and it definitely has the look, sound, feel, and editing of an Evangelion episode. I think there is a bit of truth in the notion that true art comes from limitations. Real life as a canvas is an interesting shift for Hideaki Anno. And now Studio Khara is involved in telling a new Eva story within the medium of Final Fantasy XIV... Lots to look forward to!
I've gotten to see all the Shin films in theaters, and I hope they bring them back again sometime. If you haven't seen Anno's earlier live action movies, I recommend them too. Love & Pop and Ritual are heavy stuff, but his Cutie Honey adaptation is so delightful!
